My latest blog posts have been talking about external influences or internal entrepreneur dilemmas, but today I thought I’d bring it back to the business. Where are we and what’s happening next?
So since COVID, I’ve been on and off my part-time retail job due to lockdown, which has meant putting a significant amount of time into Lucy Rose. For this, I am extremely thankful. The back end of last year (around November 2020), we finished the designs for the next (fifth) prototype – the LR5. I say ‘we’, I mean ‘Dad’. There are nine A3 pages of detailed engineering drawings each one annotated with exactly what is happening, how and their relative measurements. They are extremely impressive.
Who we’ve now got on board
They are now with PES Performance in Sheffield, our CAD guy Dan Fleetcroft will transfer the drawings into 3D models from which we can start making the LR5. I’m hoping to have the LR5 by the summer, but if I’ve learnt anything on this journey so far, it’s that things take time!
The good news is, and the part I’d like to update you all on, is the in-kind support we’ve had from various industry partners helping us to get the LR5 made. We now have the support of, PES Performance, The National Composites Centre, SHD Composites, Hypetex, Piran Composites, Nugun, and The Prince’s Trust, not to mention the various other one-man band advice team that I so often lean on (Debbie, Tracy, Dave, Kirsty). With the above companies’ support, expertise and enthusiasm for Lucy Rose the LR5 is shaping up to be the best prototype to date, learning from pervious attempts and hopefully kickstarting some PR interest.
In and amongst all this, we are also in the middle of a brand overhaul. No more pastel pinks, we’re going for a much stronger look. Some of you will see this new look, whilst others will be given the original – let me know what you prefer!
Here’s to the next step..
I’m incredibly excited for where we are going with the rebranding and the prototype. We have made significant in roads over the past year, none more so than gaining the support of so many industry giants, all themselves excited to see where Lucy Rose goes. To know that the value of my product/brand can be seen by so many now gives me huge confidence to keep on pushing, keep showing up and keep innovating. Here’s to the next step!
